Based on our recent experiences in this area, I think you'd find that the above problem would go away if you used the latest version of the JTOpen toolbox driver, to be replaced by the following one: SQL0804: SQLDA not valid. Digging deeper into this message would reveal that you would have error type 6. And you also had the latest cumulative PTF applied recently. It appears that this cume broke the database, at least as far as JDBC is concerned. Removing the cume appears to fix the problem for now. We found reference to an APAR, SE04940, which describes our symptoms exactly. This APAR claims to be closed, the problem fixed; but no PTF is given. If anyone has any more information about this, place let me know.
