Larry, Thanks for your input. Those are basically my feelings on learning new technologies. But my main question is, where does Java lie in the great scheme of things. Maybe you can lend more insight into this, at least from IBM's point of view. There are quite a few paths available for creating a GUI over AS/400 Data. From VARPG to VB to Delphi. Should I go on? I will learn the applet stuff as well as the application stuff. But I started with what I thought I was most comfortable. I've done very little programming for the Internet. A few Net.Data macros and one RPGLE CGI program for our Employee Internet Site. I frankly don't know the difference between a servlet and Java Server pages and Active Server Pages. I guess that will come. I hope the effort I'm putting into the last few weeks pays off. I think eventually it will.
