Jesus Bautista asked "Where do I start."

Short answer: Develop your Java on your Windows or other box.

Let's say your application is in myapp.class.

Download as follows:

ftp yourAS400
(signon)
cd /home/yourUserID
bin
put myapp.class
quit

Then, on the AS/400 command line (what you
get when you sign on):

JAVA myapp PARMS('parm1' 'parm2')
  CLASSPATH('/home/yourUserID')

. . .should get you started, at least at a "Hello World" level.

If you require a graphical output (AWT, Swing), then it gets more
complicated.

Note that the CLASSPATH parm on the '400 includes
classes.zip for you. Whatever you put in there is only your
own stuff (classes, zips, jars).

More complicated stuff works about as you'd expect:

JAVA mypackage.myMainClass
    CLASSPATH('/home/yourUserID/mypackage.jar')

etc.
