com.ibm.db2.jdbc.app.DB2Driver is not a part of the Toolbox. This is the
native JDBC driver's, Driver class.

There is no reason you can't move the Native JDBC jar file to your PC and
do your compiles there if you wish (I do this all the time). The Native
JDBC driver does require an AS/400 under it to actually run, so it isn't
advised to attempt to execute the program you compile until after you move
it to the AS/400. (Nothing bad will happen, it just won't run).

The driver is found in db2_classes.jar and where it is depends on your
AS/400 release (sorry, I don't like moving it around either). In v4r5, it
is found at /qibm/proddata/java400/ext. I believe that was where it was in
v4r4 as well. It will move once more in the release after v4r5 but that
should be its final resting place (as it makes its way into the base OS).

Subject: Where is the class com.ibm.db2.jdbc.app.DB2Driver?

I compiled the following code on as400 OK but I can not compile it on PC. I
have moved all the jar files that I could find on my as400 to PC. (I can
compile many other java files involving jt400 on my PC).

import java.sql.*;
  public class ajdbc   {
     Connection conn;
     PreparedStatement pstmt;
      public static void main(String args[])         {
          try           {
           DriverManager.registerDriver(new
com.ibm.db2.jdbc.app.DB2Driver());
          ?..

This is the error I got when I try to compile the above code on PC.

Class com.ibm.db2.jdbc.app.DB2Driver not found in type declaration.
           DriverManager.registerDriver(new
com.ibm.db2.jdbc.app.DB2Driver());
                                                                        ^

Thanks.
