So you're saying I cannot build a console application ? Some kind of treatment program which is called by other programs and that is executed sequencially? 'Cos if it is what you're saying, I'm off VARPG!!! How about the NOMAIN subprocedures? Stand-alone procedures? This would mean that I cannot import an ILE RPG that is the result of a conversion from RPGIII to VARPG, even if i redefine the sub-routines as VARPG procedures? You got a big point here and I need to know how I can convert my old RPGIII server-side programs into VARPG programs that could run on an other platform than OS400. Thanks!! >> So from what you say Jon, I should consider converting my applications to event driven applications instead of the good old RPGIII cycle driven pgm? Absolutely. You really have no choice. VARPG has no cycle and is every bit as event-driven as (say) Visual Basic. >> From what I've tried with VARPG, it seems that we cannot compile an ILERPG program that is the result VARPG was never intended to be a vehicle for compiling programs from the 400 with no conversion. It does however use the same dialect of RPG (RPG IV) as the AS/400 and this opens the potential for extensive code re-use. This is on a "cut and paste" basis though. +--- | This is the JAVA/400 Mailing List! | To submit a new message, send your mail to JAVA400-L@midrange.com. | To subscribe to this list send email to JAVA400-L-SUB@midrange.com. | To unsubscribe from this list send email to JAVA400-L-UNSUB@midrange.com. | Questions should be directed to the list owner: joe@zappie.net +---
