Absolutely.  You really have no choice. VARPG has no cycle and is every bit
as event-driven as (say) Visual Basic.

VARPG was never intended to be a vehicle for compiling programs from the
400 with no conversion.  It does however use the same dialect of RPG (RPG
IV) as the AS/400 and this opens the potential for extensive code re-use.
This is on a "cut and paste" basis though.
