>> Cafe Lite kit that came with Teach Yourself Java in 21 Days. I'm not all that impressed though. Should I go to something like Visual J++ or one of the other software packages? BTW, I am signing up for a class at << Don't waste your time on Cafe Lite. Check out Visual Age for Java. The entry (professional) package is selling almost for pocket change, and it really seems pretty robust. I can only compare it with Visual Cafe 1.0, but of the two, VA/J is certainly superior. VC 2 is out now though, and the Symantec product works well too. I haven't used J-Builder, but I have used Delphi, and from that I would suppose that the Borland product is probably worth a look too, since they have some really nice software, IBM has been working with Borland and J-Builder has some AS/400 specific stuff available. I hear that parts of J-Builder may end up in VA/J (or maybe it's the other way 'round).
