Hmmm. Trying to get off the ground for EGL.
This is harder than it looks. It seems to me that I need WAS going.
Is this correct? We dont even have a version of WAS installed.
(we dont use the AS400 for serving web applications)

As an aside perhaps someone has a COBOL to RPG source converter. (just
joking.)

They BS'd you Joe.

There are significant differences between the COBOL dialects on the
mainframe and on the "i" - has to be, since the mainframe >has (for
example) no concept of an externally described file. RPG is close enough
to COBOL in most ways to make it a >relatively trivial task as I'm sure
you must realize.

This is a very long standing requirement going back to when CSP was
ported to the (then) AS/400. At that time we asked for RPG >generation as
in those days having to buy the extra COBOL compiler was a major inhibitor
to adoption of CSP. The same issue was >subsequently a major inhibitor in
the adoption of VA Generator. They always rejected the request - the
excuse changes every >time.

Do I care - like you - No. But I do think that it affects people's
willingness to consider the tool.
