V5R4, Domino 7.01

We are currently on V5R3 and Notes Domino 6.5.2. I have been reading the
posts here and some of the links posted ( thanks Chris and others). We plan
on going to V5R4 in a couple of months. I see our choices for Domino are
6.5.5 or 7.0.1 for V5R4. From what I am reading here it would make sense to
go to Domino 7.01 prior to our V5R4 upgrade. Is that the case? Can I go
directly to 7.0.1 form 6.5.2 while on V5R3 or do I have to go to 7.0 and
then 7.0.1?
