Is an "IP sprayer" anything like Round Robin DNS? If so, that's not an option. We tried Round Robin DNS for sametime and were totally dissatisfied with the results. For example we would go to http://sametime.dekko.com and RRDNS would send them to either http://sametime01.dekko.com or http://sametime02.dekko.com. However, if sametime01 was down, but it's box still running, nothing stopped the RRDNS from still routing requests to sametime01. Basically it had the feeling that if I could ping sametime01 then who cares if: a - http is running for that domino server b - that domino server is even running at all Now if we dropped the whole damn 400 then RRDNS would only route to sametime02. The single point of failure with ICM does sound a bit scary. I wonder if we need the same solution that IBM was suggesting to us as an alternative to RRDNS for sametime, for our domino issue? Maybe that's a good thing as we couldn't cost justify it for sametime alone. I think this solution at least made sure that the tasks were running and not just the simple tests that RRDNS did.
