I appreciate your input. That's the best argument for not toying with 
QTEMP.

Since 1989 when I started programming on iSeries I've never once had to 
juggle the location of QTEMP just to accomodate a job. I've grown to 
believe that the need to do so is the result of faulty analysis and is 
just bad programming. I realize that it can be done with some degree of 
success, and have seen it done in some instances, but for me I prefer not 
to expose applications to potential problems, such as those you described.
