If they are connecting to you, you are the recipient -- that server is
sending to you. There's nothing in Mail.box because they are apparently
unable to deliver the message.
Maybe something in your configuration is already blocking unwanted
messages, but is allowing the connection long enough to determine that the
message is unwanted. I forget the INI settings, but you can turn up the
detail in your logs and possibly see what the conversation between the
servers is -- that might clue you in to why they are not actually sending
anything. Something like SMTPClientDebug, I think. Definitely investigate
that before you turn it on -- it will balloon your logs in a hurry.

If it is indeed a legitimate outgoing email, where would I go to find it?
There is nothing in the Mail.box referring to this domain.
Thanks,

Patrick,
We are on R5.12.
I tried blocking on the Configuration -> Messaging tab -> Messaging
Settings -> SMTP Inbound Controls and SMTP Outbound Controls.
It is not working. Firstly, must I stop and restart the server for this to
take effect. And, if not, is there somewhere else I should be blocking.
Thanks,
Mark

It might be good to try and determine why this server is trying to connect
and failing to deliver any messages before blocking. Are you certain this
is not a legitimate, if aborted, attempt to deliver mail?
What version of Domino server are you running? I can tell you how I would
configure mine in ND6, but don't recall whether it's the same in R5.
If you do need to block, you might want to block on IP address rather than
domain name. Be sure to include square brackets around the IP address.

Hello,
Here is part of our Notes Log. These entries are dominating our SMTP
server. Any idea how to track down what's happening. I've tried blocking
sampinc.com and no go. I'm really a Notes novice.
