1) You don't have to restart the entire server. I believe you should be
able to restart the router with a single command, but fail to recall the
command off-hand. Try "tell router quit" followed by "load router". This
will, of course, stop mail from routing while the router is off-line, but
it should be brief enough (always is when I do it, anyway) that few people,
if any, will even realize you did anything.

2) Look for a "Deny connections from the following SMTP internet
hostnames/IP addresses" field (Note: wording may have changed between R5
and ND6). I believe you are looking on the right tab already, but cannot
verify. Enter "[63.168.160.51]" (brackets required) into that field or
enter the entire name of the server or a wildcard * with the domain - I
don't think that field is supposed to work with just the domain.

Good luck,
Patrick

Patrick,

We are on R5.12.

I tried blocking on the Configuration -> Messaging tab -> Messaging
Settings -> SMTP Inbound Controls and SMTP Outbound Controls.

It is not working. Firstly, must I stop and restart the server for this to
take effect. And, if not, is there somewhere else I should be blocking.

Thanks,

Mark

It might be good to try and determine why this server is trying to connect
and failing to deliver any messages before blocking. Are you certain this
is not a legitimate, if aborted, attempt to deliver mail?

What version of Domino server are you running? I can tell you how I would
configure mine in ND6, but don't recall whether it's the same in R5.

If you do need to block, you might want to block on IP address rather than
domain name. Be sure to include square brackets around the IP address.

Patrick

Hello,

Here is part of our Notes Log. These entries are dominating our SMTP
server. Any idea how to track down what's happening. I've tried blocking
sampinc.com and no go. I'm really a Notes novice.
