Hi Matt,
Good point. We actually plan to do something about this 'problem' in the
next release
of the iSeries debug tooling :-)

Regards,
Vadim.

I figured out what I was doing wrong... The OPM was not compiled with
*SRCDBG. This then gave me the message: "Error occurred: Host: CPF9584 OPM
program PGMC cannot be added to ILE debug environment. "

Now if I had looked at the second level text of the CPF message before, I
would have known what was wrong...

Message . . . . : OPM program &1 cannot be added to ILE debug
environment.
Cause . . . . . : Program &1 in library &2 cannot be added to the ILE
debug
environment because it does not contain OPM source debug data. If you
want
to debug an OPM program in the ILE debug environment, it must contain
OPM
  source debug data.
Recovery . . . : If your OPM compiler supports generating source debug

data, compile the program by specifying the appropriate compile option.

Then, add the program to debug again. The OPM source debug data is
specified
at compile time using the OPTION parameter in either of two ways:
    1) For CRTRPGPGM, CRTCBLPGM, and CRTCLPGM: specify OPTION(*SRCDBG).
    2) For CRTRPGPGM, CRTCBLPGM, CRTRPTPGM, CRTSQLRPG, CRTSQLCBL, and
  CRTCICSCBL: specify OPTION(*LSTDBG).

Thanks for the prod to look further, which I should have done first :o

Matt

Hi Matt,

Actually, the Distributed Debugger supports debugging of either OPM or ILE
programs.
Combinations should work fine as well. As a matter of fact, you don't
really need to specify
anything differently depending on what program type you are trying to
debug.

So, your scenario should work just fine in the Distributed Debugger.

Hope this helps,

Is there a way to use the Distributed Debugger to debug both OPM & ILE
programs within the same job?

Example: PgmA is a CL that calls PgmB an ILE rpg, then calls PgmC an OPM
rpg. I want to watch what happens in PgmB then PgmC while in the
Distributed Debugger.

Thanks,

Matt Hopkins
