>It is very frustrating because, generally speaking, I am not an idiot. Ha! Well, how about specifically speaking? <vbg> I had a lot of problems and frustration at first. I had to take more than a few stabs at it. . But now that I got it working I really like it and can't imagine going back to seu. My first problem was I have W2K and I installed WDTS using administrator then tried to use it as a different user. The installer sets user environment variables which is why it would only work if I signed on as administrator. I added those environment variables to the other user and solved that problem. Next was not understanding how to get the source code I wanted. I tried to start a strcode session from the as/400 and some other stuff. Then Buck told me about the Project Organizer. This is definitely the way to go. Go into project organizer, then create a new project. Expand the Add Filter item, then expand AS/400. Select Member to Add Member Filter. Make sure you select the correct server. Then the file name & library. Once that is done, you should have something under Local with the member Icon. Expand that and a list should get downloaded from the server. Highlight one of the source members, right click and select get from host. This will put the source member onto your PC. Or, you can double click the member and it will open the editor with a copy from the server. If you 'get from host', you can then go into <LOCAL> and open it. The advantage here is you don't have to worry about making a copy since the original source is still on the server. And, if you lose connectivity you can continue to work. When you're done, you select 'put to host' to upload it. If you rename the member, you have to go into properties and change the 'Copied from' on the Remote tab. Another problem is with hex codes that color the source member. In code designer (for DSPF, PRTF, PF) this can cause the designer to crash. First open the source file in the editor and remove the hex codes, save it, then open it in code designer. I haven't had any trouble with it in the editor. The verifier is great. The first time through you have to tell it to use cache. This will download all the file references. From then on, it will run on the pc completely. Very fast, and doesn't slow down the server. It does look dated, or as you put it, "wanted to make sure that they could not be sued for look and feel infringement". (That's great!) And it's really obvious if you go into the distributed debugger. Phil _________________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
