Edmund, This is a bit off your topic, but I thought I'd use your request for input as an opportunity. I would like to see a small AS/400 with all of the development tools, CODE/400, SQL, ADTS, etc., that was priced so it was affordable for home ownership. At $5,000 I'd buy one today and worry about how I was going to pay my credit card bill later. Based on response to a similar message I posted on midrange-l early this year, there is significant interest in a small development AS/400 in this price range. The price of the new 250-2295 is a bit high, but not unreasonable if it came with all of the development tools and Client Access. You could limit it to a few users to prevent it from being used as normal production machine. An AS/400 in this range would allow developers the opportunity to experiment and perhaps come up with new products that would increase AS/400 sales. One integrated package of tools with one price. No more complexities of ordering piece parts here and there and learning the quirks of each one. That is the strategy we are actively pursuing this very minute. I am afraid that I cannot get any more specific than that. If you think this is right or wrong, we would be happy to hear from you. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------- +--- | This is the CODE/400 Mailing List! | To submit a new message, send your mail to CODE400-L@midrange.com. | To subscribe to this list send email to CODE400-L-SUB@midrange.com. | To unsubscribe from this list send email to CODE400-L-UNSUB@midrange.com. | Questions should be directed to the list owner/operator: larry@paque.net +---
