We upgraded from 405CD to some version of 8 two CEO's back.
We started out with the very basics. We put everyone through ERP
training. Not software specific. They might have left the janitors out
but the payroll clerks and all went through it. For some reason IT was
left out. Some departments received more intensive training than others.
We wanted people to really know what they were doing. No more daily
scripts of "take these menu options in order...". After awhile, and some
management change, it was determined that a change of promoting from
within without that person receiving any additional training didn't result
in the best performance. Basically a change in attitude from any monkey
can push buttons to maybe a degree in a related field isn't such a bad
idea.

After it was all said and done the CEO at the time said it was a very
smooth transition. And that it came in much smoother and with a lot less
cost than a migration to SAP or some such thing would have done.
