The internal search function is temporarily non-functional. The current search engine is no longer viable and we are researching alternatives.
As a stop gap measure, we are using Google's custom search engine service.
If you know of an easy to use, open source, search engine ... please contact support@midrange.com.
We have a non-netable, non-allocatable, warehouse for items to be kept out
of MRP access, which means MRP cannot use it for anything. The stuff in
that warehouse includes:
* samples and pilots in need of approval to design specifications before
moving into regular production warehouses
* rejects by inspection for review to see if repair practical, or if
components can be mined for re-use, or if must be scrapped
* customer returned something & we need to figure out what to do
* vendor messed up, we not yet decided do what about it
We have scores of samples in process at all times, from vendors, to
customers.
We use identical item # except with letter "S" on end, and item class of
"SA" which means "sample, not yet approved" After it has gone thru the
approval process, we have a phantom "note" in BOM, and start using the item#
that does not have letter "S" on end.
The use of this special coding tells glitch-detection Ok when various
"marbles" missing from item coding, such as valid cost price
We also use "SA" transaction code in ITE, which is a clone of "A"
miscellaneous, because of need for accounting to see volume in GL.

Subject: [BPCS-L] PO for a sample of an item
I am trying to order an item from a new vendor, to sample their product.
I do not want this item to be considered by MRP as an expected receipt
(since it is considered a sample) but I would like to use the same item
number.
Can I flag the PO in such a way that MRP does not look at it.
I thought about using the Non Netable flag in the warehouse, but I think
this relates to received inventory only.
Thanks
Mike
