Hello,

SSA GT does advise companies to use the IBM/SSA GT sizer to size their
systems before upgrading from older BPCS releases to newer releases. We tell
companies about higher requirements for CPU depending on the BPCS release
they are moving to, since in filling out the sizing document, all the
requirements for interactive CPW etc. are taken into account for the new
BPCS release when a system configuration is recommended. The recommendation
is based upon the BPCS products you use, number of users, the volume of
transactions performed and whether you will be using the Full Client/Server
or Mixed Mode version of the product etc.. In addition, the BPCS install
document for each BPCS release lists the minimum system requirements for
running the product. Given this, I fail to see how SSA GT is not informing
clients of this requirement.

But as to the original problem, Driss could have an entirely different
problem from what you have described in your note - it is hard to say since
so little detail was provided about the problem to start with (are all users
getting the problem, only some users, is this only when calling the BPCS
menu program or is it happening after selecting a BPCS program to run, does
joblog say anything, are any files open, what programs are in the call stack
of the jobs taking lots of CPU etc.).

If NO ONE can get into BPCS, then the problem is something else completely
from what Roger has suggested here. If you send more details about the
problem, the chances for a correct (or even relevant) answer are definitely
going to be increased.

Thanks,

Genyphyr Novak
SSA GT
