We use the Intermec 2435 which is capable of 5250 and telnet emulation. It
works with any 802.11b access point. In our case, we use access points
from SMC and Cisco with 128bit wep. There are a variety of devices which
incorporate 802.11b, rugged cases, and scanning from Intermec, Symbol, and
many other companies.

        Subject: AS/400 Wireless Barcode Scanner

Hi,

Does anybody know of a product that takes the place of the IBM 2482 bar
code
scanner for the AS/400? We are looking for all the components: the
scanner,
the network card for the AS/400, the antenna, etc.

For those not familiar with this product. This is a real time scanner for
the AS/400 that emulates a 5250 terminal. Thus any information that you
enter is immediately, without any other process, available to all the
other
AS/400 users. It is wireless, uses a battery, can accept a variety of bar
code symbologies. Since it emulates a 5250, you can use an RPG program to
do the data collection.

Thanks,

Mindaugas Bielskus
