-- [ Picked text/plain from multipart/alternative ] Oh? That makes sense since the help says to change the length of a field put a "+" or a "-" in the field type :) And I'll be danged if it doesn't work!!! How truly BPCS like for ASSET to say one thing and mean another. Can you explain why the help on this very topic says " HP00205 Help: Field Data Type More: Field Data Type: This is the Data Type of the field. If you want to increase or decrease the length of the "Define Like" field, you can use the Data Types "+" and "-" . The following table lists valid Data Types. " And why the truth is very different? Anyway, thanks for your help! fgarcia@swift.com.ar wrote: You must put A in the field data type. The field is not part of a data model but when I do a Y in the Char field beside the field define in the action subroutine where it is defined and go to the "Field Characteristics" screen it won't accept the change. I put a "-" sign in the field data type then put 49 in the Length and press enter--I get an error that says "Invalid Field Type". Any pointers? --------------------------------- Do You Yahoo!?
