I do not have nice links like the above, but IBM has products & services
through some partner that can send reports from 400 & from PC to CD Rom-W
indexed according to items & other key data in the reports, so that folks
later can use the index to find what reports we might have on a given item or
customer or whatever.

The system is setup so that users on 5250 who do not have GUI capability can
still identify GUI reports like engineering drawings & specify which ones are
to be e-mailed to someone.

I was thinking that this might be useful way to store fiscal month reports to
supplement huge carton of paper, and to serve estimating for how to cost
processes similar to what we have made in the past.

Mitch,

You gave me another idea.
Let's suppose the Word Documents were on a company intranet accessible using
URL links like those we use on the internet. Those URLs could be placed in
the notes of the BOM & Routings of BPCS. When the shop packet is on the 400
spool file, you could access that data via PC to extract the URLs & depending
on printer flexibility, intersperse pages of the shop packet with what you
got from the URLs. You would probably have to move entire shop packet spool
report to PC to split it up & return that way to printer. Depending on
printer, you could even insert engineering drawings to help inspect final
product.

I hope I do not get in trouble with Dean for straying from topics.
