Chick We have a report that shows firmed orders that MRP reccommends be rescheduled. We then are using people like clerks to obey those reccommendations. I suggested we consider a program to automate this clerical work, that would not do it when the reccommended date would be past due. Now we'd run MRP to get the reccommendations down a level, run the automated corrections program, run the MRP again until no corrections left to do & there would have to be an audit trail because perhaps some of the corrections should not have been done. Our MRP is by facility & takes no time at all ... CAP takes a bit longer & cost rollup takes over an hour.. > the one big issue that i have and don't know how to get around is when you > have many levels of parts. if you reschedule a work order at the top level, > you don't see the impact of that change until the next MRP run. then you get > a message to reschedule the next lower level part. again you don't see the > impact of this change until another MRP run. so if you have many levels, you > can reschedule the top parts, but you might not get MRP to tell you to > reschedule the low level raw material for a week or so. i wish there was a > way around this.
