BOM500 and Loops

        Does anyone know why it is possible in BOM500 to create a looping bill 
of material by changing the item number of an existing component to the parent 
number?

        We don't even get a warning message.

        (I'm not talking about adding the parent number to a bill - this 
results in a hard error).

        We're on BPCS 6.1
