This is a multi-part message in MIME format. -- [ Picked text/plain from multipart/alternative ] Dick, We are on 6.04 and ran into this same problem. We called and requested BMR 52251 which is supposed to fix this problem. We also ran into another problem that you may or may not have... In the following example you have.... Parent Item Component Item Component of Component Item If you were to go into the Bill of Material of Component Item and change the Component of Component Item to Parent Item, BOM500 will accept this. So your problem is probably mult-level. We called and requested BMR 55068 to fix this problem We too noticed that BOM500 halts when adding an item, it is only when you try to revise the line in the component detail that BPCS will allow a recursive BOM. Since your mail reader does not understand this format, some or all of this message may not be legible. -- [ Picked text/plain from multipart/alternative ] Does anyone know why it is possible in BOM500 to create a looping bill of material by changing the item number of an existing component to the parent number? We don't even get a warning message. (I'm not talking about adding the parent number to a bill - this results in a hard error).
