BPCS 4.05 CD requires that a Lot Number be Unique per Item Number.
Yet, in a pharmaceutical company, we often make one "batch" of tablets ( Lot
#01)
then issue that to various different bottles sizes ( different Finished
Goods Item # )
So Lot# 1 is issued to 3 Shop Orders and 3 different Lot#s are received
into
finished goods inventory ( Lot #02, 03, 04 )
We would LIKE to keep the same Lot # on all of the finished goods item
numbers.
since they all came from the same original Lot of tablets.
I vaguely recall ( ??? ) in an older S/38 version ( or maybe S/36 version ?? )
that more than one Item # could use the same Lot #.
That is: the KEY to the ILN was LOT# only, not ITEM# and LOT# .
but my memory is not what it used to be.
Any suggestions on how to reduce the numerous finished good lot numbers ??
Thanks,
Jim Barry
