I think Jeff has focused on the key issue. Assuming that we are in agreement
that a programmer can get much more work done in less time writing in AS/Set
than in RPG, but the resulting code is not going to be the same level of
quality than if it was written by a human, can the pros & cons of better
quality code produced at different rates by different approaches be measured?

Perhaps there are other CASE tools out there that I should be asking my
management to get me, other than my current requests for LANSA, AS/Set,
TAATOOLS & Robot.

There are people who program in AS/Set & are comfortable with it & do not
want to learn RPG, while there are people comfortable in RPG who do not want
to learn AS/Set. It is perhaps more important to hear from people who work
in both.
