from Al Macintyre 405 CD I recognize that the official SSA policy is that you will supply us with the source code, so we can do whatever we want to try to do, but you reccommend that if we want to do modifications we would be more productive to be doing them in AS/Set. That is an arguement that has not sunk into my management & I doubt that it ever will in the near future, so I am having to modify programs in RPG that were created by AS/Set, or in a few cases of mods asked for ORD500 & ORD570 where I have had to tell my users. Yes, I can do this modification that you have requested, but it means that I will be doing nothing else for several YEARS, while in the same time frame, I can do hundreds of enhancements in other areas ... I refuse to proceed on this until you get approval from management for me to drop everything else for several YEARS so that I can do this modification that would be simple if we had AS/Set. But perhaps it would not take YEARS, if I first developed some software to analyse the AS/Set outputted RPG code and add to it what the heck is this & what the heck is that, since most of the time I need for some of these programs is looking up explanations that are within the software library. In fact tools, such as I say I think I need, may already be available to sites that cannot justify the price of AS/Set, or have some other reason why I cannot have it. novakg@ssax.com writes: > Also in response to Al - as regards message literals.
