This one keeps coming up so you might download the history from midrange.com for additional detail. I like the Windows based tools myself because of their easy integration with other tools like MS Excel and web browsers. I would look at Seagate Crystal Reports, Cognos, and Showcase. MSAccess can provide reports to end users pretty easily, plus other database functionality. Beware of using the pure ODBC tools (Crystal, MS Access) however because of some limitations. I have seen queries and reports that won't run correctly on big tables because the optimizer on the 400 incorrectly forecasts the amount of time it will take to run the query as exceeding the allowed limit. Showcase and I believe Cognos get around this by having an engine that runs on the 400 and performs the actual querying using 400 friendly database calls, then passes only the results back to the workstation client. http://www.seagatesoftware.com/homepage/ (download it for free) http://www.cognos.com/impromptu/index.html http://www.showcasecorp.com/strategy/strategy.html Best Wishes, Geo. +--- | This is the BPCS Users Mailing List! | To submit a new message, send your mail to BPCS-L@midrange.com. | To subscribe to this list send email to BPCS-L-SUB@midrange.com. | To unsubscribe from this list send email to BPCS-L-UNSUB@midrange.com. | Questions should be directed to the list owner: dasmussen@aol.com +---
