Not sure how you would tell it to do it in ASSET or an internal print file. <<snip>> Not sure I'd describe the HP version as "little programming", but you have to insert the TRNSPY CVTDTA keyword into the PRTF DDS generated by AS/Set and change the SPACEB(01) to SPACEB(0) for the format you use for the ASCII hex. The OUTQ must also be configured for "Host print transform" = *YES. In my case, the "Bar Codes and More" pamphlet that came with the SIMM wasn't enough, and we ended purchasing about $200US worth of additional books from HP in order to get all of the ASCII codes required. Then again, I was doing snazzy stuff like relative vertical positioning in order to print text and graphics around the bar codes. The SPACEB change prevents the overflow calculations of the %OVF BIF from being corrupted. TRNSPY CVTDTA says to put the printer in transparent mode, and convert the ASCII data. Oddly enough, the only non-IPDS solution that IBM gave me at the time was internal output specs, so you can do that, too... HTH, Dean Asmussen Enterprise Systems Consulting, Inc.
