I'm on version 6.0.02 C/S March 1998

We went live in Aug 1998. Since then we have experienced a few errors that
have caused our load number and bill of lading number to be out of sync.
Doesn't happen often, 17 times in the first few months and 4 times since. I
have had requests from several areas to bring them back the same to make
people's lives easier. I know where to change them in the parameters and am
seriously considering changing the lower one (BOL) to equal the higher one
(load) at a time when no one is in the system... like period close. Going
this direction I don't duplicate any numbers, I just skip 21 BOL numbers,
they're never assigned to a load.

Seems too simple, so it makes me nervous. Has anybody done this? What am I
not thinking about? What's the gotcha in this one?
