George,

Yes, but good guess.

We regularly export, drop and import the dB to get around the extent
problems
inherited from the prime database (initial & next extent of 16).

With a dbexport/dbimport most (!!!but not all!!!) tables including glh have
an update stats done.

The Select
----------

SELECT

lhid,lhldgr,lhbook,lhyear,lhperd,lhjnen,lhjnln,lhian,lhdram,lhcram,lhdrat,l

hcrat,lhlsts,lhstat,lhldes,lhjrf1,lhjrf2,lhdref,lhddat,lhreas,lhbkov,lhuser

,lhdate,lhtime,lhlock,lhsumf,lhsln,lhtsn,lhtrnn,lhdrmr,lhcrmr,lhstmr,lhjnml
FROM GLH WHERE (LHLDGR BETWEEN ? AND ? AND LHBOOK BETWEEN ? AND ? AND
LHYEAR BETWEEN ? AND ? AND LHPERD BETWEEN ? AND ? AND LHJNEN BETWEEN ?
AND
    ? AND LHJNLN BETWEEN ? AND ? AND LHID = ? AND LHLSTS BETWEEN ? AND ?)
    ORDER BY LHLDGR,LHBOOK,LHYEAR,LHPERD,LHJNEN,LHJNLN

The dbexport SQL
----------------

update statistics high for table glh

     lhbkov, lhbook, lhcram, lhcrat, lhcrmr,
     lhdate, lhddat, lhdram, lhdrat, lhdref,
     lhdrmr, lhian, lhid, lhjnen, lhjnln,
     lhjnml, lhjrf1, lhjrf2, lhldes, lhldgr,
     lhlock, lhlsts, lhperd, lhreas, lhsln,
     lhstat, lhstmr, lhsumf, lhtime, lhtrnn,
     lhtsn, lhuser, lhyear, serialcolumn)
     resolution 0.50000 ;

I belive that if the select uses BETWEEN the engine makes little use of
indexes,
even if (as in this case) the FROM and TO values are the same. Unless
someone else knows better !

Rgds
Mark Curtis

Have you tried to update statistics high on the glh for those columns in the
select statement?
