> a product on the market called MONARC It is called MONARCH For the PC user, the AS/400 spool file beomes point & click. I want that report migrated to that PC application - your choice of word processing, spread sheet, graphics or whatever package - it handles the conversion automatically - no mucking around with PC macros behind the scenes lines of code or AS/400 command settings, or properties - just install MONARCH on your PC & you are in business - you do not need to know any of that behind the scenes stuff. MONARCH comes with some 30 day or more trial. Some co-workers tried it, said it did everything it promised, but somehow we got too buried in other projects for the rest of the company to get the benefits. I can see many applications of hassle free migration of AS/400 spooled reports to PC based views. MONARCH has many competitor products - check out the AS/400 on-line forums - many people talking about the pros & cons of different products & there are whole boards devoted to the nuances of transfering stuff to PC from AS/400, such as - well I do not have that book-marked but you might start here & look at their list of forums http://www.news400.com/communities/rpgprogrammer/index.htm BPCS also comes with User/Vision, which we looked at, then decided not to use because it could not be used by our Twinax users unless we could merge it with another package, which we were trying out, which gave PC-functions like e-mail & word processing to twinax users - query appeared to do our job for us more economically. As I recall User/Vision - PC-based information was up-to-date from latest AS/400 data, so you could do a PO-print like PC application, based on the latest BPCS info, rather than trying to move spool file.
