Hi Rob,

>> Still would like WDSC to show me this information instead of joblog
hunting.

I agree completely. WDSc does a good job reporting errors from the actual
compiler, but not so good job reporting errors that occur outside of the
compiler (like authority issues, binder errors, etc...) We recognize this
and have it on our list to improve.

RE: [WDSCI-L] SQLRPGLE program gives RNS9301

Thanks for the tip. If I do that, and I pick a job description that logs
right, that will work. And this 'compiling in batch' doesn't seem to miss

any information in WDSC that WDSC isn't already missing.

Still would like WDSC to show me this information instead of joblog
hunting.

Rob, from the properties sub-menu (right clicked on the appropriate
connection), choose the subsystem entry. Then choose the iSeries Objects
tab. On this tab is a check box to make the compile submit to batch.
Check
this and see if you get a job log on compile errors. You can also specify
other sub job command options below.

Thank you,

You're assuming that there IS a spool file. There isn't. The only joblog

is not spooled up yet. It's only available by doing a DSPJOBLOG of a
particular server job.

True, it is easier in the 5250 session. I tried a spool file plug-in once

but quit using it after a while. I think it was because of speed but I'm
not sure now. IIRC it came from Turnover. Might be worth looking at
again.

No, but it's easier finding the job log for my compile. It's one of my
spooled files. With WDSc, it's not. The job belongs to some QXXX user
profile.

Thanks,

Mark
