Hi Jon,

If CCSID 37 can handle accented characters, do you know how to change an application to allow them to be entered? I’m talking about a 5250 application. Is it a different key sequence than what you use for Windows? I tried Ctrl + ` and then type the letter. I just get the letter on my 5250 screen.

The simple answer is nothing. CCSID 37 should be a full Latin-1 character set which includes the majority of normal accented characters such as à. See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Code_page_37<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Code_page_37> <https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Code_page_37<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Code_page_37>> for a full list. There has to be an IBM site that has it too but ...

Have you tried storing such characters in regular char fields? We do it all the time.

Hi,

We are on V7R3 currently (upgrading to 7.5 this month). Our system CCSID is 37. We are starting to get requests to allow accented characters like è in the database. What would we need to do to allow this?
