If the OP is considering getting away from SNDNETF, I'll put in a plug for GoAnywhere. Of course, it may be a heavy lift to plug that into all his programs.

My last employer was a heavy GA user and I dealt with this same issue. It was very simple to add a bit of code to the email tasks to send to a generic Dev mailbox from our testing environment. I also added a footer noting it was a dev/testing email and included the original addressee names for verification.

Of course, the same could be accomplished with SNDNETF - just need to locate all the programs that do it. Perhaps externalize the email send to a single called program.

It's the same issue with switching to GA - you have to touch every program. Much easier to administer though and so many other benefits.

The other point to be made is the SNADS network stuff has not been touched
by IBM in quite some time. I'm not even sure the support center has any
experts left.

I would strongly urge another solution to SNADS or anything connected to
SNA networks.

There are much better solutions out there as Gavin points out.

I know you got a lot of advice, but we used to be heavy SNDNETF through
SNADS shop, but we've switch to FTP because it's much faster and no setup.

If you're interested I can send you a generic REXX script that can FTP
anything from point a to b, either direct (GET OR PUT). It can be
embedded into a program or callled via command from a command line.

Credits: I didn't write it, all the credit goes to a former IBM'r who I
used to work with.

Hello all,

We are having an issue using SNDNETF to send files between two of our IBM
i partitions. We know why this is. We do not have the MSF jobs running in
the QSYSWRK subsystem on the "receiving" partition. This is because we
don't want inadvertent emails going out from our test system to customers
that look exactly like ones from our production system. Does anyone know
if there's some sort of "happy medium" in the configuration where SNDNETF
will work without the MSF jobs running, or maybe a way in the config to
prevent all emails from leaving the system? Any input would be most
appreciated. Thanks!
