That's much like the point I tried to make. Reading posts as they arrive in e-mail or through news is only part of it all. It can be very different when searching Midrange archives or reviewing Google (or other) archives.

With all due respect to Chuck (a LOT of respect), I suspect that he has less need for searching archives than some of the rest of us. Unfortunately for me, I often look through old stuff trying to find some tidbit that I barely remember seeing someone mention. Often, the results pages have dozens of hits that are worthless simply because of the untrimmed baggage.

When you have little need for searching, you have little need to care. But if I see my time taken up when I do it, I try to remember that others can have the same troubles.
