I cannot guess how many times I've seen this sequence of comments:

"Where can I find out why 'x' happened?"
"Look in your QAUDJRN (or QHST or whatever is needed)."
"We don't have auditing turned on (or we delete all logs or whatever). Why doesn't the system have this info available without auditing?"

Sigh.
