Joe, I'm an old geezer too and can't argue with the reliability of a twinax console; my experience is that it has always been rock solid. What I really would like to see, and don't understand why IBM can't do it, is for them to add a small, hardened linux kernal to the service processor card that would allow for an HTTPS connection to the i5 from any device with a browser installed and forget about all this console configuration mess. Kind regards, Brian On 11/13/06, Joe Pluta <joepluta@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> wrote:

Discussion of twinax isn't germane to Aaron's situation, but the comment that stirred a lot of the pot -- specifically, Rob's opinion that twinax is both archaic and unreliable -- deserved the opportunity for rebuttal. It's pretty clear from the comments that us old geezers and our silly KISS principle still have some kick left in us. <smile> Joe -- This is the Midrange Systems Technical Discussion (MIDRANGE-L) mailing list To post a message email: MIDRANGE-L@xxxxxxxxxxxx To subscribe, unsubscribe, or change list options, visit: http://lists.midrange.com/mailman/listinfo/midrange-l or email: MIDRANGE-L-request@xxxxxxxxxxxx Before posting, please take a moment to review the archives at http://archive.midrange.com/midrange-l.
