Well the reason I ask it because I used that to reset DST and thought I
understood what you since have stated, to be the case.

So I, signed on as QSECOFR, key in STRSST and get the Start Service Tools
(STRSST) Sign On and prompting for Service tools user ID and Service tools
password and Requesting service tools ID password not correct.

So what is going on ?

We are on V5R2.

Thanks !

Chuck

What about it? QSECOFR is a Service Tools ID. You can have as many as
you want with varying access rights. Al's suggestion will simply reset
the password for QSECOFR in System Service Tools (STRSST), not for a
normal sign-on to the system The two (DST/SST and normal sign-on) can
(and probably should) have different passwords..

Any other service tool id you may have (such as CHUCK) is/may still be
valid. At any rate it is not affected by Al's suggestion (CHGDSTPWD).
Once you have that you can change/add/delete the others.

A very important thing to remember is that the password in DST/SST is
case sensitive. I forgot that once and blew away my access to DST.
Fortunately CHGDSTPWD reset it and everything was cool after that.
