Well Command Prompt as it is called now (presents itself as the old DOS
deal) and it does indeed show the gateway address but I thought you said IP
address ?

Windows isn't DOS, I realize, but I just tried it in XP from the RUN command
  it gave me my gateway address, which I expected to get.  This whole thing
is getting me confused.  Must be what happens when a doofus meets Unix.  :(
