Snads doesn't give you any guarantees that ftp doesn't. Digging way down into the well of memory, hopping into the "way back machine". You can use a technique used in old batch methods, and currently used by EDI. If you are going to flat files anyway do the following. Add a record to the beginning, and one at the end. Pick one, two or more fields to do totals on. Even if it doesn't make sense, like order number. Total this/these field(s) up and store them into the final record. The receiving program could then do the same processing on it's end and make sure that it's totals match what is in the final record. I think that this is one verification technique that is going to be lost by all the script kiddies that are switching over from real EDI to emailing a report from a query generator, (trust me, we have a customer that wants to do this switch). Did you say you were switching over to iSeries-to-iSeries? If so, and you are getting scrambled data, you could try wrapping up the data into a save file first. That has been rather flawless for us, (providing you always create the save file on the remote system prior to ftping the bugger over). Other options may include using TCP/DDM.
