We have an iSeries-based product that does exactly what you want: look at www.cogiscreen.com You can use it to delete or protect some fields on a per-user basis ("profile"), keeping only fields they need, when application allows it. If they are not required to fill a field, you may be interested to know that no data are sent back to the program anyway. No source code is required. Look at it as a per-session/per-user filter installed at the exit of the black box. At Design time you choose which, how and for who DSPF fields will be treated with a windows-based Designing tool. For runtime you have just to insert the launching command at the beginning of each interactive session (typically : one line in initial CLP). Much more functionnalities are available (branch a command or a call to a program : it makes it possible to feed city name from ZIP or postalcode for instance with access to an external database...). Moreover, you are .fr so you can appreciate to know that you can get support in France.
