The system did not support RAID-5 on the MFIOP until Models 6xx. The get
100% PROTECTION, The MFIOP has to be mirrored.

Carl,

I'm looking through the V4R1 System Builder which has some information
regarding the 400 model. According to what I'm reading, the 6502/6522
Disk controllers are only allowed in the Expansion Unit.

My recollection, fuzzy at this time, is that a 'protected' 400 model
will have a mirrored load source and RAID in the expansion unit.

Based on what I'm reading, you cannot accomplish your immediate goal of
implementing RAID in the system unit of a model 400. The 6502 has a
designated slot (slot #1) in the expansion unit, and will not fit in
just any slot.
