The following web page describes how you can programmatically find the full
4 digit year:

http://www-4.ibm.com/software/year2000/faq23.html

It is not possible to set system displays to use 8 digits, but you can
write a program that accesses the correct information. Other Year 2000
related information for the AS/400 is on the following web site:

http://www.as400.ibm.com/developer/year2000/index.html

Maybe this is a nonsense question, but I would like to know....

When you are on the AS/400, the date is displayed on the left of the
screen, in
certain areas, as XX/XX/XX. Once the new year is here, does anyone know if
that
date then changes to a 4 digit year? I was asked and other than changing
our
systems date, and IPLing, I do not know how to find out. Anyone know?
