Mark, We have a similar environment here with no MVS....VM and VSE only....We do this now for a select group of folks who have printers only attached to the S/390. I use an auto start job under a subsystem BCHSYSJOBS that wakes up every five minutes to see if there is anything in a specific OUTQ on the AS/400. If it finds something, I send over to the mainframe Power Queue via CA's XCOM product and their SENDREPORT command. Tried NJE and that was a real pain in the a-- compared to the SENDREPORT via the XCOM product and it uses the existing comm link for transferring files back and forth between them using XCOM! Given that you have MVS, there should be some TCP/IP capabilities there....Have you looking into what it would take to do IP LPR/LPD printing from MVS? That may be the quickest way to get this up and going working with existing products. I do not have that as an option here with just VM and VSE.
