printing

Yes, you can pass both print and files between the
AS/400 and MAINFRAME. We send many 100,000 pages a day each way between
systems. On the 400 set up a HOST controller and a SNUF device. On the
mainframe you can set up a NJE(NOT RJE) configuration. In SNADS set up
Queue type *RPDS. The print you receive from either source will look like a
regular spool file. There is a red book number that I can not locate that
is very detailed on the subject. Also refer to these two manuals: SNA
Upline Facility Programming V4R1, SNA Distribution Services.

This is a currently working example on the 400 if
attaching to ethernet:

                        Subject: Mainframe to AS/400 printing

                                        I have 2 AS/400 and an IBM
mainframe(s390) locally and a
remote IBM mainframe. We have 2210 routers and a
Xerox laser printer, run
both token ring and Ethernet and all talk to each
other. My question is
this. Can I pass AS400 print jobs to the mainframes
and vise versa. The
remote mainframe runs VM, VSE, MVS and AFP to a
Xerox printer. Locally we
run on the mainframe VM, VSE to Xerox printer. AS400
run 4.1.0.
We also have SNA server in the
network which currently is
able to print both 400 and local mainframe
printouts.
Your help and comments would be
appreciated.
