Carl... .I guess one thing my ICCP certification has done for me is keep me getting those hours so I can keep it "valid". Without it... I might shrivel up and blow away... ;-) Kevin Watkins, CCP ----- Original Message ----- From: Carl Galgano <cgalgano@ediconsulting.com> To: <MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com> Sent: Thursday, May 06, 1999 1:17 PM Subject: Re: IBM certification, especially RPG I'll give my 2 cents to this issue. I became a CDP over 14 years ago. Has it ever helped me?, probably not. Very few people even inquire as to what a CDP is. I guess it made me feel good and that is about it. What is your purpose for getting certification? Until a certification is widely recognized like a CPA, then you may be wasting your time and money. I found that my MBA has opened up many more doors and opportunities that my CDP. I hope somebody on this list will help me see that I am wrong on this issue, but in general I don't know too many companies who really care about certifications, successful experience is what really counts and the ability to adapt to this crazy changing environment. +--- | This is the Midrange System Mailing List! | To submit a new message, send your mail to MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com. | To subscribe to this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-SUB@midrange.com. | To unsubscribe from this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-UNSUB@midrange.com. | Questions should be directed to the list owner/operator: david@midrange.com +---
