I'll give my 2 cents to this issue.  I became a CDP over 14 years ago.  Has
it ever helped me?, probably not.  Very few people even inquire as to what a
CDP is.  I guess it made me feel good and that is about it.  What is your
purpose for getting certification?  Until a certification is widely
recognized like a CPA, then you may be wasting your time and money.  I found
that my MBA has opened up many more doors and opportunities that my CDP.  I
hope somebody on this list will help me see that I am wrong on this issue,
but in general I don't know too many companies who really care about
certifications, successful experience is what really counts and the ability
to adapt to this crazy changing environment.
I don't usually get on my soapbox...... must be that cup of coffee I had!
