I haven't taken any data processing certification (yet), but did take the cpa.  
I studied hard for 6 mos, went thru a review course, etc.  it was fun in a 
sadistic sort of way.

a valuable tool for the cpa was prior tests.  did i understand correctly that 
those don't exist.

The value of a degree is that is shows that you have the dicipline to go to 
school.

the value of the certification is that you have the dicipline to study and take 
the test.

i took the cpa because it was widely recognized.  i didn't take the cdp for the 
same reason.
